6 BR/6 BR-A Reloaders “Sound Off”!!!

So, I didn't like how 'front heavy' the rifle was partially due to the HS Precision butt-stock being hollow on this particular model. So, I grabbed a 1/2" drill bit and put a hole through the recoil pad and ultimately into the hollow butt-stock cavity. Then used a mixture of zinc coated BB's and a product called 'Perfect Cast' (I'll provide the Amazon link to that) and filled that sucker up!! I'll finish filling the hole flush with the recoil pad with some silicone and forget all about it! This is gonna work out nicely, I think. Definitely added some weight and deadened the 'hollow sound' completely.

By the way….the 'Perfect Cast' reaction with water is exothermic and sets up completely in about an hour. 😉

It is less bulky than H4350, you can actually pressure out with 15.5. I never could get enough H4350 in this size case to have too much. The de-coppering agent in it seems to work and doesn't seem to be too temp sensitive. Speeds/pressure will change somewhat but not major swings.

For giggles I'd try running those 108s out .050"-.060" off the lands. I'm on my 3rd custom BRA barrel and my last two were more consistent out there. I've found that if I stay around around 2800fps and .060" they just shoot. My current barrel I didn't do any load workup just stuck to this recipe and it's been working very well I just crested 1200 round on it.

As far as round count I pulled the last two barrels at 2500 and 2700ish. Both started to slow down and started seeing SDs start creeping up. For my uses it was time to pull them but they still shoot pretty small groups.

After 3 BRA barrels I am going back to the BR. Just started breaking in a 5x5 barrel that looks very promising. I've always preferred to run these around 2780-2800 and honestly I can do that easily with the BR and it takes one step, fireforming, out of the process.

Wow that's surprising but glad you tested. Seems like all the hybrids I've shot liked the jump.
 
Okay, so I loaded up 32.0gr-34.6gr of H4350 into my now fire-formed cases. 34.6gr was right at the neck/shoulder junction. Not sure if I can exceed that even with my 8" glass drop tube/electric tooth-brush (for settling). I shot & chronie'd several rounds at 32.0gr for a 100 yard zero (in prep for a 500 yard ladder) and the velocity on that was 2744 fps. We shall see…..

I am sure I missed it but is there a reason to use H4350 vs the "more traditional" choice of Varget or N140? I love H4350 but for larger capacity cases like Creedmoor or x47.

It was recommended to me by a good friend and there are several threads over on Accurate Shooter concerning the same. Figured I'd give it a shot before going the "traditional route". 🤷‍♂️
I've got @ 6-7 lbs of H4895 for the "traditional route". 😎
