Preferred Glassing Tripod for Backpack Hunting?

I run a Aoko at 19 oz. have a outdoorsman mtn on it. Have outdoorsman also.I run pic adapter for rifle if needed.Run my 15,s bin or my STC.

Switching to a lighter tripod definitely makes sense, especially if you're using it mainly for your spotting scope now. The Vortex Summit aluminum tripod is a solid choice. It's lightweight and offers good stability without breaking the bank. Another option you might consider is the Manfrotto BeFree Advanced. It's compact, lightweight, and sturdy, making it a great value for the price. For a bit more budget-friendly option, the Slik Sprint Pro II might be worth a look. It's lightweight and offers decent stability for a spotting scope.
Unfortunately, I can't provide direct links, but checking out local classifieds or online marketplaces like eBay or Craigslist might help you find a good deal on these tripods.
Happy hunting for the perfect tripod!

So I replied back in August, after getting my surui 124st. Having used it for some time now and some review on it. So I got it to do two things one be able to shoot and also serve for spotting with my vortex 14x39 I will say it has been amazing for that we had a few days of wind blowing 20-25 mph and was still glassing well well over a couple of miles. So I would say it's definitely heavy duty. I would also add and coming in at 2-1/2lb I beleive she's stocky. Now recently I tried shooting my 10 lb rifle off it and I was throwing all kinda groups. Now this could have been me where I have not practiced with it enough but i will say i can't seem to get everything tight enough to really lock it down to have a rock solid rest. So in that department I've been pretty disappointed. Maybe I need to practice more but I can see why the designated shooting tripods are a lot bigger.

In my conclusions the Sirui 124st is definitely a heavy duty tripod for spotting so you can look at some smaller lighter options if you want to cut down on weight and size.

Another vote for the Aziak Ultralight Tripod and the Nighthawk Ultralight PH-170 pan head. I don't stand when I glass or shoot so I don't need a tall system. Easy to pack, super stable to glass and shoot from, hardly know its there. I also bring the Tricer GC for my brother to shoot of.

Do you or anyone know when their ball head is coming out?

I finally bit the bullet and got a Tricer AD.

I've had and broken a whole bunch of $100-$180 carbon and aluminum tripods and finally decided I needed something with a guarantee.

I haven't received it yet, but I'll be getting this to try. https://www.opticsplanet.com/leofot...amp-panning-dynamic-head-w-handlebar-con.html

My criteria… same setup for the following:
1) Backpack hunting in Idaho… LOTS of glassing. I don't carry a spotter, i use my 15x Leica RF binos.
2) shooting off of, both for me at 6'1" and mostly for my kids
3) filming my kids sporting events (so pan head is a must)

I hope that I'm happy with this head, I'll report back after I get it.

Yeah, I would be interested in your review too.
