New hunting suppressor input needed.

I considered the Scythe Ti but ended up going with AB Raptor 6 and am very pleased with less than 6" and about 8.5oz with direct thread mount. I run it that way to hunt but then run with a 3" reflex for range work (12.6oz, same length of only 6" past end of barrel). Using on 280ai (180g bullets at 2920fps) so not sure now different it would be on ur 300PRC.
 
If you're looking to get both sound reduction and recoil reduction from a suppressor on a 300 PRC, you'd need to get a suppressor with the external ports/ baffles designed to reduce recoil. This chart from TBAC gives you information on some of their models in terms of both sound and recoil.

My 7 PRC with an Ultra 7 Gen 2 has more recoil than my 300 WM with a micro-bastard brake. The 7 PRC is still loud enough that in a hunting situation, I would prefer to have hearing protection like my Otto Noizebarriers, especially if I were shooting from a blind or enclosed space.
 
I shoot a ScytheTI on a Bergara Sierra 300 wm and have been very pleased. It weighs about as much as my IPhone and there is no POI shift. The muzzle brake helps some with the recoil also. Just my 2 cents.
 
Thanks for all of the inputs guys. Didn't realize I'd get so many. I'm not looking for maximum sound reduction. If I want that I'll just use my Nomad LTi. Mainly something a little shorter for the enclosed stands I hunt in. Weight is not a big issue. I actually weighed my 3 rifle suppressors last night.

Ultra 7 (gen1) 11.3oz with Area419 hellfire cb adapter

Nomad LTi 14.1 oz with ebrake and hellfire hub
12.55oz without brake.

Sandman L 26.65 oz with ebrake and area419 mount
24.55 oz without brake

A 12oz can still feels pretty light even on a 24" barrel. So the Nomad XC at 9.6oz would be fine. Heck if they'd ever get the Omega 300 back in stock I'd order that today. Especially now it's only $595 at silencershop. So I have E brakes for my dead air vans if I need more recoil reduction. Just looking for good suppression in a shorter package. However I'll look at some of the other options you guys have thrown out as well.

I'm curious.
If you're hunting from a blind, either box or ground blind...why would you want a 24" 300 PRC in the first place?
Seems terribly excessive and impractical for your scenario.

Now if you're looking for Elk in a prairie hunt where you can shoot 800 yds....sure.
It just seems like you're trying to find a tool to make your already bad choice, suck just a little less.

(I don't mean that to sound so abrasive as it came off...but you get the idea)
 
For potential comparison reference (have/compared with buddies) the scythe=omega=ultra 7 for sound suppression in my testing. There are minor differences but very minor honestly I'd throw the DD STi in there too but do feel it's a tad better (albeit not by much).

Scythe is just 1" shorter….which I think makes it interesting.

Not abrasive. That's what this rifle is meant for. Hunting out west when I get the chance. And for long range fun. But I live in northern mn so no it's not the ideal gun for a box stand. Actually it's fine without a suppressor on the end. But it is much nicer having a can on it. Plus I wanted a 30 cal magnum in my collection and I chose the PRC. But I also want something shorter for my son's 7mm-08 compact as well. When I'm hunting with him to help protect his hearing.

Do the scythe was basically the same as an ultra 7? If so I'm fine with that. Just like it to take the edge off for those 1-2 shots you might need.

Also it's not my main deer gun here but might as well use it sometimes. I also use a 30-06 and a B14 Ridge 6.5 creedmoor with 18" barrel. Now that gun with the Ultra 7 is a sweet whitetail/coyote rig. Hog too.

You won't regret either. If you want good and short the sycthe is the way to go IMO.

Only thing I'm tracking shorter is ultra5 and banish BC. Both I haven't used but read plenty of conflicting reports on here and other forums about actual sound performance. Most say "they are hearing safe". And if that is true and all you are looking for, perfect. They are shorter.

If you want a can that suppresses "well" I'll call that ~5/10 db better or said another way you are able to take 3-5 shots without ringing ears you may want a slightly longer/more volume can (I.e. scythe).

(Edit: just confirmed backcountry is only shorter by 1/4" and .5oz lighter in similar configs…non braked).

Second edit: I think I recall you shooting semi enclosed in a stand of some sort. Suppressors inclosed are much louder than not. For hearing safe in a stand you may want to hedge your bets and get a bit more supressor. I still think the scythe or something longer would be ok for that.

I'm assuming that this is not a big deal if ~half of the gun and all of the suppressor is out the window?
(I don't use a can today but I plan to change that, so I'm a noob)

Honestly If your primary hunting will be from an enclosed or trad stand I would suggest a TBAC magnus and a 20-22 " barrel.

I've ran the magnus on 300 Rums, 300 prc's 300 winnies, 28 noslers, 7 PRC's,6.5 saums etc. They are incredibly quiet and contrary to popular belief keep recoil to a minimum.

I have an Ultra 7 and will grab the magnus or ultra 9 over that any day of the week.
