Mdt hnt26 or xlr element 4.0 magnesium?

You do have to use bigger cases to store and carry, but that's any chassis. I use double rifle soft cases, for one chassis. That is just for the extra room and padding for optics or electronics (thermal or NV). Just what works for me.
Folder also comes in handy, easier to clean the barrel without moving the adjustable cheek.
I am not a huge proponent of folders. I have had and seen some that develop wiggle in the joint, very annoying and affects precision for me. HNT26 folder seems solid so far.
Peasant, do you now have one of each to do a sxs comparison (HNT26 vs Element 4.0 MG)?

I believe you originally said you didn't care about weight, but several of us probably do if you care to share.

I'm going to buy one or the other. Ultimately, I'm going to end up with all of the light-weight options (so carbon accessories), and will have folders, bag riders and cheek risers as needed depending on which one I buy. Curious on head to head finished weight between the two.

If you're after an XLR, they've got a pretty steep discount going until 11:59 MST...

Hnt26
Arca forearm and folder
Bighorn Origin SA , 24" Proof CF in 6.5CM
CB mount for Thunder Beast
Athlon Cronus on it right now, big scope

XLR 4.0 Magnesium,
Aero Solus SA, 20" Proof CF in .308
No folder, carbon fiber Smoke XLR buttstock 12.5"
MDT vertical adjustable grip, a bit heavy
CB mount for Thunder Beast
Vortex Razor (yeah, I know, heavy)

Both running Diamond triggers.

Both come up at 9lb 10 oz
I could shave off some ounces/pounds but right now they both fit my needs.

I like both. I thought the HNT26 was gonna be a blow out favorite. Instant love affair? I do love it. Folder has been great so far. Tight lock up. Carbon fiber is better for cold weather. If it fits you it's just right. If it doesn't, not a lot of options. Fits me. I am not crazy about the three small screws that hold the enclosed forearm in place. Easy to strip without a torque wrench. You can adjust LOP with spacers and cheekpiece with an Allen wrench.

XLR 4.0 MG, after putting it together and shooting it, I just like it. More than I thought I would. The cheekpiece adjustment holding screws have loosened on me once. The LOP and fitting a folder can be a concern. I have the 12.5 short carbon fiber butt on it and I don't think the added length of the folder is gonna fit me. I ordered it today during the sale, so we shall see.
XLR offers a lot more options to switch out components to make the rifle fit you and your needs. 1/2" spacer is available to add LOP. 13.5" buttstock is available. Thumb rest, I like.

Both rifles shoot very well. Both are comfortable and practical. Hope this helped. My best advise is to try and fondle both before purchasing. At the very least try to hold the HNT26. If it fits you will know it. The XLR you can make fit with all the options, it's just figuring out which ones get you there.
Just my opinions. YMMV.

I've made up my mind. 😎

The side by side review that I saw from the EXO crew sealed the deal. I'm going to get the XLR MG with all of the carbon bits. As soon as I can get my wife's takeoff bronco tires sold, I get to use that cash for a chassis.

Ya, that was a really great article.

I will link it for posterity;

There is also this guy, but I haven't put my hands on one yet

That's an option I hadn't seen previously. I read all about it but I don't see anywhere that it's folder compatible. Have you?
