6.5 Creedmoor Deer Slayer Rounds

..
What powders fill the case and perform well in this range? I have R26, R17, N550, N568 and AA 4350. I'd buy something if available.

Alpha brass and Forster dies in the mail.
Ramshot Hunter is also sposed to do well in this case. I have my first test loads loaded with both 123SST and 147ELDM for practice loads.

I'm sorry….what is apex?

Staball 6.5! And Superformance. People say SF is temp sensitive and Im sure it can be in some combos but in the creed Ive run at least 3lbs, bullets from 100-147grs. Aweaome speeds that match RL26 without the temp spikes. Ive chronod my 127LRX loads at 2902 in very warm sept 90s and then 2881 at 37° in cold december. Cant see that being a problem and it is a great powder in that case.
Note, i run the chrono almost everytime im testin reloads so have a lot of data on this powder over the years in this cartridge.

Bullets for sure look at the HH, 124?. Great killing bullet. Ive had good luck with 147DRT on one big blacktail, 125 Badlands BD2 but thats nogo unless u have em already.

ETips didnt shoot fast enuff in my 6 5s to hunt em but killed good going fast in 257wby so take that for what its worth lol
The 124 in the Needmoor leaves a lot to be desired IMPO

Ya? Good to know. So below what fps would ya venture?

I actually ran mine 3180 in the PRC and mostly on big critters. So apples to pear-apples I know. Longest shots around 300 so 2600ish, closest shots around 15yds.

A couple blacktail around 100yds 2950ish were poleaxed, even one hit rear lung n liver as he moved thru timber. Dropped!

I had good luck with that for a while. Never had an issue but the added speed of the 123 sold me puts it well above all the others at that weight and they never seem to catch back up.
Or by the time they do youre so far out there ya dont care anymore. At least thats how I look at it.
What bc works in ur setup with the AH?

I shoot the 127 LRX in my Tikka:
Hornady brass
43.5 gr H4350
OAL 2.850"
2930 fps

Also the 145 gr Barnes Match Burner
Hornady brass
43.5 gr H4350
OAL 2.850"
2800 fps

Both have exited every time and killed decisively, the Match Burner produces a far more devastating wound channel (and exit), despite being a "match" bullet.

Don't get too hung up on raw velocity. Get the most accurate load and turn them loose on game. We shoot them from 2770 to 3286MV in various 6.5s, from 60 to 771yds, and they flat work.
