I've been reading about the 8.6 Blackout in an AR 10 configuration. But in a bolt rifle it reads way better for suppressed loads. My initial look into 338 barrel blanks with 1:3 twist yields a big fat zero. Am I missing something? I don't even see gas barrels for it. Hoping to hear I just havnt looked hard enough.

1:3 twist? I initially thought that was a typo but then I did a little reading on the 8.6 Blackout. Interesting.

Faxon has barrels.

I built myself one with 1 in 9 twist. It won't stabilise the big 350 grain makers bullets , but it works fine with 285 grains peregrines and 300 gr smk at subsonic speed , and I can shoot cast bullets as well. I am looking forward to building a 338arc when dies and components get available. I have already a 1 in 8" twist barrel on order that should cover all my needs . I also hope to reduce the large es and sd that I currently have with the 8.6.

I think mostec also has 1:5 338 blanks. Faxon was in on the development and offer fast twist remage pre chambered barrels, or did anyway.

I built myself a 8.6 BLK bolt action pistol in an MDT folding chassis. It has a 12" barrel and I shoot 350 gr. Makers subsonic expanding bullets through a big bore suppressor. It is a riot....very accurate, very good terminal performance.

Word on the street is that other manufacturers are messing around with slower twist barrels in the 8.6 BLK, and having better results than woth the originally spec's 1:3 twist. Might just be someone trying to draw away some of the 8.6 BLK business, but might be worth looking into.
