Just returned from a white tail hunt and my first experience with 6.5CM and Accubond bullets. Nothing to brag about size wise but the 6.5/Accubond combo performed great. Shot 3 deer during the week. Two were walking straight at me and a third broadside through weeds. Ranges were 90 to 125yds. All three deer dropped where they stood and never twitched again. Meat damage was minimal. I had my reservations. New rifle never hunted with and I couldn't get Nosler Partitions in 140gr so I "settled on" Accubonds (not ABLR ) I am sold on this combo

CONGRATULATIONS.
Meat in the freezer.
Tell us more about your rifle and load you put together. 🤓

Weatherby Vanguard with a Leupold VX-Freedom 1.5-4x20 Pig-Plex. 39.8gr H4350, 140gr Nosler Accubonds, Rem 9 1/2 LRP, new Starline brass. Not a heavy load at all but it sure got the job done. I was hesitant to take the shot through the reeds but I hit exactly where I was aiming. These rounds shot less than an inch at 100yds during scope zero in.

Just a suggestion or idea here...load those at 41.5 grains and test drive them ! COAL at 2.80. Your groups may come down into the .2s @100...just me saying! Congrats on your Deer!

AB are great for killing well and not destroying all your meat. Just wish they didn't cost an arm and a dick.

I know I could have gone up near max loading but I've never chased the max velocity and max pressure. I was always content with a load that gave me 1800fps out to 400yds and would put every shot into a paper plate sized target at 200yds. Although this one does better that a paper plate. I could definitely shoot ground hogs with this load. Seems like the rifle likes it. Time will tell. There's only been 37 rounds through it so far. Things will change when it breaks in.

I've shot an awful lot of whitetails with the 160 Accubond. Most were hit with a 7WSM or 7mmmag. It was very rare to have a 160 Accubond caught in the body of an average whitetail.

At Creedmoor velocities you would probably get just as good terminal performance, at noticeably less cost, with a 140 Ballistic Tip. Just a thought.

I shot the 130 AB out of my 6.5-x47 for years. Always worked great. Switched to the 124 HH and it's an excellent bullet as well. Sounds like the 140 AB is performing excellent for you. What velocity do you get with your load?

It's never about velocity for me either.... but I've found 41.5 gr to be golden on the 140, 143 for great accuracy.
