memtbBullets have been loaded for about 9 months I am guessing. How long does cold weld take?
There could be changes in back pressure from the usual seepage of gases that exit the barrel before the bullet. Whereas the seepage was able to go free, now it is hesitated by the tape. I would only zero with tape on the barrel before the hunt so there is no POI change between the two conditions. I also don't believe a word I typed. Just a poke at some of the frivolous and inconsequential mental static I see cropping up here...A constant concern for us! We always put electrical tape (the good stuff) on our muzzles! We even carry partial rolls in our day packs, replace it as quickly as is practical after making a shot!
I've seen and heard too many horror stories about mud or ice in a rifle barrel. Tape is a good, cheap, very effective safety precaution…..that doesn't affect your ballistics what so ever. Certainly far less than a good solidly plugged barrel!
Thanks for sharing! Unknown munitions sells some little barrel caps made out of neoprene that would work better than tape on muzzlebrakes, I might have to start using them.A constant concern for us! Nobody knows that. Nobody knows if cold welding makes any marked difference.

Electrical tape has even found uses in the modeling industry. You should Google, "The Black Tape Project", and I advise researching alone...Very true, buuuuut…….electrical tape can have a multitude of other purposes in the field from, temporary equipment repair to first aid. your needs and imagination are about the only limits!

I had suggested a hacksaw……but a thoroughly plugged brake might just do it, very fast! memtbInteresting, thanks. I do recall one of the bullets being dropped in the snow. There was a stiff bolt before that though, but that could explain the hottest one
