What are you choosing for your 22 CM, Large or Small primer pockets? What is everyone finding to have the best performance? Or what application are you using what size for? Thanks

I will be using LRP due to multiple people having hang-fires using SRP during cold temps.
Thanks for that info. I ordered Alpha Munitions large primer and then hoped after the fact that I made the right decision. Crossing my fingers that I made the correct order for my situation. Good to hear and thanks for the response.

I've found better performance in my 6.5 Creedmoor with CCI #450's, but I keep some LRP brass around for really cold hunts. Here in WA we don't have a rifle season that would ever make me think that I'd be hunting in sub freezing temps, but I run some coyote loads with Federal 210's. Never experienced a hang-fire with the SRP stuff, but enough people have to make me think it's not the best idea if I know it's going to be cold.

I've heard of this a few times. Luckily I've never experienced it in my 6.5x47 with CCI450's. I'm in Manitoba and hunt whitetail frequently in -20 to -30C.
Had some ball powders give me hang fires,I use mostly SRM,never hand a hang fire with extruders powders.

I have never had a FTF or hangfire with any SRP down to 4°F. I shoot a lot of SRP when available in the smaller catridges based on .308Win parent case and down.
I have two .260AIs. Alpha .260 Rem brass for both. One is SRP and one is LRP. I have noticed zero difference in performance, accuracy, or velocity. When loading identical, they are pretty much identical.

The big benefits of SRP are these: availability of primers, longer lasting primer pockets.

I run SRP in:
.223 (of course)
22GT
6CM
25CM (x2)
25MBK
6.5CM
.260AI

LRP in:
6.5SLR
.260AI
25SST
25PRC/SI
6.5PRC/SI
6.5SS (x2)
7SS
7RM
28 Nos
300PRC

In your experience do you think the cci 450 or 205m primers are hotter?

I've been running cci450's in my 22 creed and 6 creed because of cold temperatures when I'm coyote hunting in the winter. I've never tested them against each other.

I think the CCI450 and Fed GM205M are very close. I believe they are both hotter than the CCI BR4 and CCI400.
I use CCI450, CCI BR4, and Fed GM205M in various rounds.
I would say I use the CCI450 in a bit larger case capacity rounds. .260AI and 25MBK.

I also run SRP brass when I can get it, currently using SRP in 22-250/22-250AI, 260AI, (2) 6.5x47 and 7-08.
I only use Winchester SRP, either standard or magnum, have never found other primer brands to work as well. Same in my SRP 222, 223 or 17 Remington.

Cheers.
