AR15 Upper Build - 223 or 22GT

So I have the itch for a 22 cal upper build. Have 223 covered, love it, accurate and economical = boring. Not super impressed with all the hype surrounding the ARC/Valkyrie options, however, I am intrigued by the 22GT. Could also be persuaded to go 20P, but I don't think it has the legs. Anyone care to share their thoughts on a 22 cal upper? This would be a heavy upper (20"-22") with small groups as the primary goal. I would like to reliably connect with bowling pin size targets out to 500yds (beyond would be great.)

I'm not super familiar with the GT or 20p, but the 22 nosler might be worth a look.

I have a WOA 24" 8tw upper in 22 nosler that flat out shoots anything I have fed it..50-69 gr of various brand of bullets & powder. I haven't tried any of the super heavies and probably won't. Ballistically not to shabby, either.

i've been thinking about the br's in 22 and 6 as they use the same bolt the 458socom does. the 22gt would be to long unless you use a 50gr or less bullet (or seat deep). 22br would be a better choice for heavier bullets if going that way?

I'm going to be spinning up an AR-15 manual barrel for what I'm labelling a 6BR-R. A 6BR rebated to us a Grendel bolt shooting 95VLDs.
If it works, might have to try a 22BR-R.

that would be just shy of the 22 and 24 nosler with the rebated rim in capacity and velocities. if you can't seat to optimal length (boat-tail in shoulder) it's self defeating. i've been wanting a 6dasher (almost the same as 6br) in an ar15 just to have a smaller frame to my 243win ar10. let me know how it works out! best to you!

i passed on doing a 284win to do a 7-08rem so NOT to have a rebated cartridge with more potential issues? maybe an improved extractor to hold the rim while in battery for it to not bounce off during firing?

I already shoot a BR in a couple match rifles, and will be spinning up s 22BR for this winter, so I already have brass(expendable Norma), dies and reamers.
This is more of an experiment than a gun I plan on putting serious time on.

I shoot a 284 Shehane, so rebated rims don't bother me. Superior brass(Lapua) is a bonus for me, as well as not needing a magnum bolt face, as I switch some of my guns around seasonally.
