Ive been all over the unit and will continue to give it all i have but Im just not seeing much sign. Going to change it up again today. A set of tracks here or there has been it. If you have any pointers for Unit 66 I would love to have them. This is a beautiful place! Please PM! Thanks,

Go as far as you can in away from the roads, hold your phone in the air, when you have no signal go 2 miles further and hunt there.

Is this the unit that the Town of Powderhorn is in ? South of Blue Mesa reservoir ?
I think that I am remembering the correct unit number .

Take Colorado Hwy 149 that runs between Lake City and Blue Mesa reservoir , to Powderhorn .
At powderhorn , turn South on County Rd.27 , and follow it southbound as far as the road will take you , to where it ends at the edge of the Powderhorn Primitive Area (it might be called Powderhorn Wilderness now). Walk in on the Horse/Foot trail , as far as you want to go , no vehicle allowed .
The farther that you travel on Co.Rd.27 , you will be gaining elevation and getting into more forested terrain .
Hopefully you will find Elk there .

Good Luck

If that doesn't pan out go further south on 149, turn right at Gateview on 25 and wet a line in the Lake Fork :)

It has been very hot and dry, so I would try as high as possible. This front that moved through with rain, snow likely high might quieten it down and show sign better. They normally are high where it's cooler until the snows push them down. Also the north facing slopes will be the coolest where they will likely be.

The Powderhorn area is lovely and there should be lots of elk there. No wolves there yet per Colorado Wildlife folks. Won't be long though.
