I'd like to hear experience on what folks here are getting out of a short barrel 7 SAUM, build
In a LA, shooting 180s, Hybrids or ELDs. If possible please share your recipe. I understand all rifles are different and need to Taylor the load to the rifle.
Thanks
H

What are your plans with a short barrel saum? Why not a prc?
Im my opinion, going shorter either requires more horsepower or lighter bullets to get the job done without worry. 20" 7rm here and its 2947 with hybrid 180. 2980 with 162s. No real disadvantage to build weight being a long action.
69.6 h1000 162g eldx
Fill it up with h1000 in the 180.

I stuck with the 162 because of how precise it was with 1st round cold barrel, clean or dirty.

Thanks, I have a 24 inch 7 saum that loves 162 eldx and H4831SC.
This rifle will be a deer blind rifle supressed x TX, shots inside 300 yards, so I guess anything in the 2750 area would work well.
Thanks

180 hybrids
H4350
22" benchmark carbon
2760fps.
210m primer

There's a higher node but this one shoots in the .3's-.4's religiously and it's hard to break away from that in search of more velocity. Will explore n565 this winter in hopes of 75-100fps gain.

Any experience with N570? I ran a ladder today with N565 and I got light ejector marks at 62.5 gr and 2680 fps.
You can get ejector marks no matter how lighter a load. I'll get them still at the bottom end of a pressure test. Bolt lift and primers are the main ones I look for.

Ha! Never seen that before, you learn something everyday, thanks.
That makes sense because I saw it under a loop and those primers look pristine with zero bolt lift.
Thanks

My main indicator is always the "bolt lift" for pressure. I have seen marks on the case too where either the brass was very soft like Hornady stuff or for no apparent pressure related issue….just was.

I'm having high hopes for 7saum and 195eol's in a 28". Will be trying 150, 175, 183 and 185's also. Might go speed free with 100 and 120's?
