Nightforce SHV worth the $

I have SIII 10-50x60 LRIRMOA and it is an awesome scope for that PRICE.
I do not know why if you really need sharper glass during the day time. I can shoot with Sightron way out to 1,000 yards target just fine.

Shot with iPhone and I really love the floating dot in the center. Much better than the crosshair.

Have had the shv 4-14 for a couple months. But just recently returned from sighting it in and getting a little trigger time with it. It's on a 300 rum. At the same time was shooting a nxs. I'm not going to try and compare them, but will say that I was very impressed with the shv. Seem clear and tracked very well. Only time will tell, but have to say was happy with the scope.

I've heard Sightron s3 and vortex pst thrown into the mix to compare to the SHV which all 3 are a step down from the nxs level of nightforces! But for the $1200 range you can definetaly throw in the Leupold VX-6 4x24x52 TMOA into the pot! Great glass, lighter weight and not as large of knobs for a hunting scope, along with a nice low to high range of magnification! Please throw some thoughts out there for the Leopold, pro's & con's welcome!

Don't get caught up on the "NightForce" name before checking out other optics. I have NightForce optics and while they are fantastic, so are many others in roughly the same price range as the SHVs. Not bashing at all as I still use a NightForce. If money isn't an issue, my response may be irrelevant. If it is, do yourself a favor and check out a few other optics in that price range. NightForce is a tough scope for sure. May not find one as tough but optically speaking, you'll find others that are as good (as the SHV)in that or a lower price range.

My eyes cant tell trijicon vs NF vs Leupold differences...I guess low light is what matters most

With the exception of reticles. The SHV F1 reticle is pretty close to perfect for my hunting needs. Maven and Tract also offer what I would describe as a very good FFP hunting reticle.
I've looked up so many scopes & reviews this past week it's not even funny. FFP to SFP, mil to moa, maven to swaro. I wish you could still get the shv in the ihr reticle like you could when the thread was first posted.

I liked that reticle too, but the MIL-R F1 with the center illumination is still a very good hunting reticle.

Funnily enough another really good reticle can be found on the Arken EPL-4 MIL/VHR scope. I just wish it was a more reliable optic.
