Another cip magazine question , this time 338 edge

I have a zeus qc la , planning on either 338 rum or 338 edge

The 338 rum shoulder is at 2.296"

The 338 edge from what ive been reading is based on the 300 RUM case , which the shoulder is 2.387"

I just want the best CIP mags for reliability , from a few years ago there are way more options in CIP mags i think due to popularity of the PRC rounds.

Has anyone specifically tried the XLR cip mags for the 338 edge or other mags ?

I know accurate mag sells the 300 RUM CIP mags and just wondering if i should get those.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

No experience with XLR mags.
But almost all my DBM mags I own (besides my AR and a couple Hawkins Hunter mags) are Accurate Mags. Their CIP mags feed fantastic. There are a lot of options, so get the correct one for the cartridge you choose.

And yes, the 338 Edge is based off the longer 300RUM body.

Isn't a CIP mag going to be to short for an Edge? They're to short for my 7 RUM

So from what i gather if i do a 338 edge , with the 300 rum cip mags from accurate mag i should be good to go?

An Edge w/ 300 grain bullet seated to the neck/boat tail junction will be longer than a CIP mag.

That would probably be a single feed in just about any action shorter than 4", right?
My .300RUM w. 215s and 230s were pushed way deep to fit in a 3.825" mag. Unless you want to do some major work to an R700 to open it up to 4", this is the max you can go, and it still takes a little action/bolt stop work.

If you're going to run out of a DBM, the 338 RUM makes more sense than the Edge. The extra length of the Edge case gets offset by the need to seat the bullets deeper to accommodate the limited mag length. You end up with nearly the same useable case capacity by the time the RUM and Edge are both loaded to a useable length.

I looked into this too. Here's what I bought but have not built in to a rifle yet.

Stiller Style CIP XL 4.050" DBM - For Stiller And Remington

These are the longest DBM setup I've found. The internal length is 3.960.
4.050 for the mag and the bottom metal, 338LM size.
