Forgive me but I need a little experience starting a thread. So thought I'd see if I could post pictures of these four bullets.

Left to right the Hornaday 100 gr ELD-VT, 116 Apex afterburner, and Bergers 140 and 156 elite hunters.

Lengths 1.243, 1.420. 1.411, and 1.500. So the Apex is slightly longer than the 140 Berger.

Advertised G7 BC = 0.226, 0.268, 0.310, and 0.347

Speeds I hope to get using H1000 in my 6.5 SAUM would be about 3500, 3300, 3000, and 2800 fps. But probably need a faster powder for the 100 gr. What I have is AA2700, Norma 205, H4831, IMR 4320 and IMR 4064. I'll work something out.

H4350 or H4831sc For the 100gr and 116gr. H4831SC for the 140gr and H1000 or Retumbo for the 156. Depending on barrel length Retumbo will get you 2900-3000 with the 156's.

I can share my loads with the 140 and 156 if you want. Length of barrel and twist?

I'm following this !
I just recently picked up a new to me 6.5 x 284 with a 26 " heavy barrel . He has two loads with 140 gr bergers and 140 noslers. I will test them and get the speed figured out ! I have some 156 gr to test also .
Should be a fun Whitetail gun !

I wouldn't be too surprised if you could get more velocity out of that Apex. We were at 3800 fps with the 103 gr in a 270 WSM, and around 3600 fps with the 102 in a 6.5 PRC.

For the Bergers, you can contact their tech support for a recommended powder list for your baseline load development. They have been accommodating throughout the years.

You can also contact the Apex owner. He is as nice as they come. He used to be a site sponsor here but is now at LRO.

I have two 6.5 saums with the 26" barreled one I'm getting 3200fps with 140 Berger's and h1000 and the 24" barrel I'm getting 3100fps with 140 Berger elite hunters. With this bullet and powder combo I'd start around 58 grains and wouldn't go over 62 grains.

For the lighter bullets I think h4831, n555, n560 or rl23 would be a good choice.

You could of added berger 153.5's LRHT as it has the best BC of them all. That I what I shoot in my 6.5x300 weatherby. Working up loads now for it.
But for you a basic great powder should be H1000. Best of luck
