270wsm still alive and kicking ?

Mine is still Alive and Kicking, it's probably in the last half of barrel life on tube #2. It doesn't get shot as much mainly due to it'd configuration being better for where I lived when it was built vs. Where I reside now.

Still like the cartridge, when this ones done I might try and put it on a diet with a little shorter tube.

Seems to be a couple versions of this, I ended up with a donor rifle or two with a wsm bolt face and this would fit a niche for me better than a saum or prc based wildcat. Is there a reamer or version of a 25 wsm that caught your eye? Seems like there are a few different versions floating around.
The 25-300 is what I went with

I'm heading in the other direction with my new Browning XBolt in 270 WSM.....gonna be looking for 3500+ with the 122gr Hammer HHT. Fire forming new Norma brass and barrel break in tomorrow I'm hoping.
100 270 WSM, 100 6.5CM, and 100 .223 Norma brass fire formed today. Also got the new Optika6 zeroed on my #1 25-06. It was a great day at the range. Time to recharge the batteries for the chamber chillers and the fan…

"should be running 2400+ fps" you probably meant to write 3,400"
The 122gr HHT in my 270 WSM came in at 3373fps at the muzzle during load development. When I run those numbers through JBM's calculator, it's close to that number at 500 yards. The load I have now will do everything I need it to do in North America for the distances I'm personally comfortable with:

I got a Winchester 70 in 270WSM, where I live can't hunt deer with it. I loaded 90 gr Sierras to shoot prairie dogs. Doesn't get shot much but I do like to take it.

I have a 270 WSM. Ammo is available as is brass, but you have to watch for the brass and/or put notifications out there on Midway USA, Grafs and other sites that allow you to. Best way I've found to get brass is just buy loaded ammo and shoot. Ammoseek is a great source for finding ammo and I've never had issue with ordering from the company's on there. I love the 270 WSM and mine shoots 1 hole groups at 100 with Win Supreme 780 and 150gr ABLR's (have to eventually find another powder as it's been discontinued, but I still have a couple of pounds) when I do my part. This is from a Win model 70 Classic wood stocked factory (pre FN) rifle.

sounds like a saucy little girl but not convenient to find.
and brass looks expensive when you can find it.
seems like a great round that was a little too early to catch on like the creed did--- maybe just not marketed right-
When it was 1st dropped years ago. All the magazines and online chatter was about it. I think one or 2 other wsm cartridges dropped relatively quickly also. It may have been a case of 2 much 2 soon. I'm not really sure. I bought one myself and being a novice made several mistakes. Like a synthetic stock!! That thing kicked like a mule. It just wasn't pleasant to shoot. I actually found a box of ammo for it the other day.

I've killed piles of deer with 270 WSM with Hornady 150 SST bullets over various powders. Compare the ballistics of the 270 WSM at 3020fps with 150gr .525 G1 ballistic coefficient to any of the "hot new" 6.5s out there. You'll see why the US military has specified a .277 bullet at 3000fps for their new, more effective small arms cartridge. Very accurate and the deadliest cartridge/ bullet combo I've ever found- by far. I run mine with a suppressor, which really reduces recoil, makes it a gentle push like a .243, and eliminates the muzzle blast. Bullets and brass are not hard to find. I have 2 rifles in 270 WSM- used one as a spare for a buddy when he culls deer with me. I'd sell either one to you with brass and load recipes. He has his own rifle now, so I don't need 2. Browning X Bolt stainless/ satin finish walnut (SHOT Show special 1 year only) with threaded muzzle, SilencerCo muzzle brake/ qd suppressor mount, and scope rail added. Superb trigger. Rifle weighs under 7 pounds. Shoots under .75" at 100 yards. Browning doesn't offer anything even remotely like it. $1350. And a Thompson Center Venture blued/ composite 270 WSM with scope rail, threaded muzzle, and muzzle brake added. Barely used, like new, great trigger for the price point, very accurate, light weight. Perfect hunting rifle. $650. I bought both new and they'll come in the box with all the factory stuff. Let me know if either sounds like it would work for you.
