So much more enjoyable when everyone with you shoots suppressed! I had a group if five that did it. Outfitter was impressed! Prairie dogs, not so much! LOL. I probably won't get to go again, hard to find guys here that will do it. But I sure enjoyed the ten or so years God let me do it.

When I lived in Colorado I took a few marmots when I was glassing for mule deer. They were so much fun. I had all my long guns stolen when I first moved there and was pretty broke so most of them were shot with a 308 that I'd picked up for elk and mule deer. Later I picked up a few rifles that were more appropriate for marmots but coyote hunting became my passion and I didn't usually shoot marmots until right at the end of a stand for coyotes.

I'd rather hunt marmots than prairie dogs but they're both so much fun it's hard to believe it's not illegal or at least immoral ... LOL

A marmot hunt with some of the rifles I have now would be a dream hunt. As I age I would rather go on a marmot hunt than even a bull elk hunt although I do love elk meat.

From what I understand marmots are getting a bit scarce and now are protected in many areas?

I know what you mean, I've been addicted to it for years now. Thats how I spend the spring while most people are after bears and turkeys.
