Which Tap and die set for cleaning Loctite 272 from my threaded muzzle 5/8-24 and the female 5/8-24 threads from my Thunderbeast .30 cal brake? I bought a set off Amazon but I couldn't get them to go in/on and didn't want to force it.

Don't use a tap and die…use a bronze brush and a CLP of some nature. Threads have tolerances and odds are your tap and die tolerances don't align to the threads that were cut tolerances. Therefore, by using those you will be in fact cutting new threads.

As stated above, don't use a tap/die to clean them. You will find thread variances that bind your die/tap.

Stand the rifle barrel end down in a small cup of acetone and let it soak. Follow up with a brass brush and if needed, a fine stainless bristle brush. That should get all the previous gunk off the threads.

Warm it up until it smells sweet and screw the new device on, you can add a touch more if you want. Not necessary to clean it off unless it is somehow contaminated.
