The article says that the two hunters were able to fend off the attack and kill the bear with their sidearms. It later states that the Idaho Fish & Game warns of grizzlies in the area and recommends "bear spray".

Seems like even the bears are grumpy this year. Had more close bear interactions this summer than the last 5 combined. Wife says she's seen more than usual at work as well.
Maybe even the bears are mad at the current state of the world.

Your screen shot has some bad advice near the end. The southern accent is actually like a fawn bleat call for bears, they have learned the southern accent rarely runs for exercise and this time of year has what can be best described as "high nutrient" body composition. Perfect pre winter prep meal...
Best to act like your from Portland or seattle, bears this time of year are prepping for winter and looking for high fat foods. Maybe wear fake color hair, fake piercings and stick on tattoos. If you are thin, take the Colorado approach and walk around in Patagonia talking about subarus and microdosing. The bears will instinctively know both groups have high levels of ingested toxins and stay away.
