I'm looking for a range finder that will range ground hogs out to 1000 YDS. I do not really need all the electronic stuff just the range. I'm wondering if the Sig Sauer KILO5K would do the job? Anything I buy must be tripod compatible. Can anyone here point me in the right direction? Thanks.

When you get into the better RF Binos they all come with the "EXTRAS".
Personally I like the Glass in Leica the BEST. Hunted Chucks in NE PA with them.
Currently have the Fury HD 5000 AB

Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB.

Leica Geovid Pro 10x42 AB

Those "Extra's" are pretty nice when it comes to long range. I'll push the Zeiss RF binos all day! They have the best glass! Do some research on who's glass Leica, Swarovski and other high end optics use. It's Schott glass, or in other words, Zeiss. The Zeiss RF's will range soft targets to 2500 yards, so 1000 is no problem. It will display your ballistic info instantly.

I have an sig kilo 5k and it works great I've ranged ground hogs out to 600 plus but never tried farther. I always take them with me but I use Burris eliminator scopes on my ground hog guns they are fantastic

Yep. I'm not sure either but the size of the beam is the difference maker. A PD is tough to hit at 1000 but there's a lot of RF that will get a good hit on solid ground at that range. I've been happy with my Fury binos. I also have a vortex Razor 4000 that will get good hits on the ground at that range
