I never did it myself, however my smith opened up the reciever to the rear, did not mess with the feed ramp. Also had to trim the bolt stop as well.

You will notice, the pic Cody put up is a MkII.

I wouldn't do it on a tanger. Tangers are hard enough to find stuff for nowadays. These action lengths make for good WSM, SAUM, etc.

PTG used to offer a DBM set up for M77s though. Not sure if they still do. After all is spent on changing it, you may be better off just purchasing an action that will be more effective.
