Twist rate vs velocity

The couple of gain twist that we have done seem to have lost about 100 fps from previous straight twist rifles. I don't think we will do any again. It makes sense since the rifling is continuously engraving new bearing surface as the twist gains. Accuracy has been good but I wouldn't say better.

Somewhere on You tube land I came across this video about barrel whip. They were high speed filming bench rest rifle shooting with long light weight barrels with some kind of magnum rounds. You could actually see the barrel whip. It might have been something like a 300 weatherby or 300 WM 10 twist. So they also had another same contour made up dropping to 8 twist to shoot these 220 grain 30 cals and it had more whip. It was about the time that some MFG's were coming out with those tunable barrels like the BOSS system
