Best Beam Scale

Just purchased a Frankford Arsenal Platinum digital scale. Comes with AC cord, rechargeable batteries, and two check weights (50 gn each) for calibration. I'm excited to try it out. Will be faster than my beam scale (RCBS 10-10), and I've had some doubt as to my beam accuracy, so moving to digital with beam verification.
I own this model and find it slower than my analog 10-10. Mine has a slow reaction time and thus a real PITA to trickle. Hopefully yours has a better brain.

Most inexpensive electronic scales don't work for trickling. It takes too much weight to register a change and then you over charge

Yes they are affected by such outside influences. A simple beam balance scale is also thrown off by breeze from a close by heater/AC vent. Back in the day I had computer speakers near the scale, they affected operations as well. Must have been the magnetics in the speakers.
This is a fact. I partially close the vent above my loading bench and shield the tray when the hvac is running. Usually its only an issue in summer. Definitely keep all magnets well away from your 10-10 scale. Otherwise, I love mine and would not trade it. I've got a portable digital that sits in the drawer, hasn't been used since I got the 10-10. I have no issues with repeatability. That said, ball powders throw flawlessly but large extruded granules like RL16 & 23 require more effort in trickling last granule selection.

When I started having doubts about my RCBS 10-10 I purchased a set of check weights which quickly dispelled any worries I had about the scales accuracy. The check weights are a good thing to have.

After two RCBS 10-10 scales failed I went back to the 5-0-5. Perfect beam scale, simple and dependable. I throw VV133 with a Neil Jones powder measure and for stick powders I use the 5-0-5 and trickle into the pan with a spoon. Been doing it for 45 years, been there, done that with cheap electronic scales.

What kind of failure have you experienced with RCBS 10-10?

..the RCBS 5-0-5 el-cheappo deluxe has been sitting on my bench for 6 decades, nothing else needs to be said..
I searched almost every place and after a month I finally found my RCBS 505.The last time I used it it would not work properly so I put it in a box and put it up!The problem is I forgot where I pout it.Found it today and again it would not repeat.
I took it apart and found a kernel of extruded powder,H4350 ot Varget from 20 years ago.
Cleaned the pivot channel and shaft and it works flawlessly!,removed the old powder and remembered a man saying he put a dab of oil on his but that just drew dust faster.Today I used graphite to lube it.
I ran several loads 10 grains at a time and it still worked great.
The RCBS 10-10 had been dropped several years ago so I figured it would not zero out but it did.The 10-10 and the 505 both showed identical loads.May not be as fast but they made them great back then.

Lyman m5, I picked it up on eBay, mint condition with all accessories and box. a beautiful scale. Prior to that for 35 years, a rcbs 5-10, I've read on searches through the net there's a guy who re builds these beam scales and I intend to send the 5-10 in for an overhaul. A 2023 project

Hope it still the same!
I may do the same.
