Need to make room for my R700 short action BDL so I can load to 2.9 in. With a Wyatt's extended box you need to cut out the action a little to fit the box AND also cut the bolt stop. With the AICS longer detachable mags (2.95 internal width) using a M5 bottom metal I know I will need to cut out the feed ramp a little but never heard anyone mention if the bolt stop needed to be modified as well. I don't mind cutting into the stock to fit an M5 bottom metal and making the cut to the feed ramp (if that's all I have to do). The Wyatt's sounds like it's more work on the receiver and might require more that I can do myself with a dremel. Am I right about the M5 conversion with the longer box as far as action work?

I had the Baney box put in. It required the receiver to be milled out a bit. Definitely would not want to do it with a dremmel. I did notch the front of the feed ramp when I was loading AICS mags though. I did not have any issues with the bolt stop with the mags.

I inquired with MDT about using their M5 DBM bottom metal and their longer short action 308 sized magazine and they said there would be no other mods to the action other than cutting out the feed ramp. I still want a 3-round AICS type magazine (for a flush mount in a hunting gun) that loads a 308-sized case to 2.95 but apparently no one makes one and MDT didn't seem interested. I might try to modify one if I can find one that I think makes that possible but it doesn't appear that there are that many 3-round AICS compatible magazines even out there as far as I could find that could potentially work.
