Yeah I hope the OP found a use for that 7.5lbs of powder he had FIFTEEN years ago when he started the thread.WOW!!! I had no idea this was started in '09, I didn't join until '13 lol.
I don't even think I own a rifle nowadays I use IMR4831 in lolYeah I hope the OP found a use for that 7.5lbs of powder he had FIFTEEN years ago when he started the thread.
For my 7 RM IMR 4831 was great combined with 150gr pills. I've since been toying with N560 with similar success but with 130gr Hammer HuntersWhat cartridge is this a go to powder for? I have about 7.5 pounds. I bought a 8# jug about a year ago thinking it would be good in my 270 Win. I've tried it with several bullets and it hates this powder.
That's awesomeI bought a model 98 Mauser from the Spegial catalog in 1968. I was 16. An old gunsmith in town sold me surplus 4831 for .50 a pound out of a 50 # cardboard drum. I loaded hundreds of rounds of 8mm Mauser with a Lyman nut cracker by dipping the case in the powder and striking it off. Seated a Herters bullet in the full case of powder compressing the powder. Old gunsmith told me that was a safe load must of been I am still here and still have the rifle.
i'm guessing it's a 28cal?78.5 gr IMR 4831 and a CCI 250 primer under a 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip in the STW gives a whole new meaning to cordless chainsaw when used on coyote sized critters
yes 7mmi'm guessing it's a 28cal?
