Cartridge suggestions

I see a few folks mention the 284 case. I was thinking that too. Little more horsepower.

The thing is…it's a long case for a short action IF you're seating the long high bc bullets way out there. Which is fine if you're okay with single feed.

OP, do you need this rifle to be a repeater with all loads worked up? If so I'd probably not go the 6-284 or 6.5-284 route. But if you're wanting max performance from the action you specify with no modifying the bolt face or anything, and are okay with running it as a single shot with some loads, these two cartridges are awesome choices.

If not, 6 creed is an easy button though I admit I wouldn't shoot big game at 600 with a 6mm, just my choice, to each their own. The .243 AI with a fast twist also intrigues me a lot as does the 260 rem ai. There's always the 6.5 Beanmoor. Yes, that's a thing 😁

On my first 6.5x47 Lapua, but there was no brass in the country at suppliers. I formed brass with Cream of Wheat and Bullseye powder, New Remington 22/250 brass. I copied a friend's load with the same freebore as mine. The Rem Brass with a Rem 9 1/2 primer shot 1/2" at 200 yards with less than 15 rounds down the barrel, 129g Hornady SST, Varget.

Very impressive!

Oh! This reminds me…if you wanna do something that NO ONE ELSE is doing just for fun, how about a straight 250-3000 savage with a fast twist for some very low recoil long range fun with the 134 eld m or 133 Berger?

Just to be different, try a 25 souper (25/308), it should fill all your boxes. Easy to find brass to process.

I tried not to comment on this build but I am failing. I am old and old fashioned. I believe in the adage " If it isn't broken why fix it". My two cents and humble opinion is put a fast twist barrel on it in .243 and shoot some of the heavy for caliber bullets through it. Brass is easy, no modification needed, bullets are just as easy and the bolt face is fine.
Your money and just my thoughts. Just have fun!
