Thanks, I actually have 2 6.5x47's in 2 rifles, the other is an SPS with skinny barrel and just as precise as the target barrel and just as easy to tune. Great cartridge.

just go 260rem. i'm a 26cal fan and own 5 different cartridges in that cal (264wm being favorite), but would choose 260rem over 6.5creed every day (i do own both). my other 2 are 6.5gren and 6.5prc to make 5.

On my first 6.5x47 Lapua, but there was no brass in the country at suppliers. I formed brass with Cream of Wheat and Bullseye powder, New Remington 22/250 brass. I copied a friend's load with the same freebore as mine. The Rem Brass with a Rem 9 1/2 primer shot 1/2" at 200 yards with less than 15 rounds down the barrel, 129g Hornady SST, Varget.
6.5x47L or you could do a 6x47. If you want something more unique have it chambered for 6x47 Swiss match. Redding has dies. I watched a owner make the SM from 6.5x47 with one stroke thru the redding fl bushing die. Longer neck, slightly shoulder bump back, a tad bit straighter wall. It would meet your requirements of 600 WT and 1k steel.
I, personally, prefer long neck cases. 244 /6 rem, the various BR based, and the 30-30. All amazingly accurate and usually easy to tune. Was one of the things that drew me to the Sherman short mag wildcatts
Actually the 30-30 is capable of crazy accuracy in a bolt gun, even with its large primer and flash hole.

7mm-08,7saw,6.5x47,25 cm 6 cm and what's wrong with a 308? All these would be good choices. I personally am saving up to build a 7 saw or 7 mm-08ai just to have something different and I have plenty of 308 brass to use

Yup, that's what I would say. An 8" twist 7-08 would net you all the 7mm choices out there and a long enough barrel would get you close to or bettering normal 280 rem performance with rather low recoil. My kid shoots my 7-08 pistol so the recoil can't be bad in a rifle.

If you want a little more from a 6mm go 6UM. 115's at 3300-3400 sounds amazing.

I'm with a lot of the group 6mm creed is probably the closest to what you are looking for--22 creed isn't shabby either both have good headstamp brass and are somewhat available everywhere--after those 7/08 is great for more bullet weight.
I am using for the PRS game so I am lobbing 134ELDMs at 2700 fps for low recoil but bigger splash than 6mm's. It can go much faster for hunting but have not tried for that.

My original PRS 6XC barrel is toast but I still have all the dies and brass - I wonder sometimes about getting another 6XC barrel.
