Looking to buy a new spotting scope and these two are the only ones I'm looking at. Kowa TSN 55 Prominar and Swaro ATC 17-40. Which one would you choose and why? GO

FOV seems to be within 10ft at 1000yds of each other. Weight is within .2oz. Mag is the same. Obj is equal.
I went through this last year and tested both and ended up with the Kowa. I liked the fine focus adjustment on the Kowa. There may be a slight clarity benefit with the ATC at the very outer edge. I ended up with the Kowa. There's one listed here in the classifieds at a solid price.

Reposting this for a friend it had sold originally but the buyer said there was a click in it so my buddy sent it back to Kowa and they went through it and fixed whatever was wrong with it, he’s asking $1225 shipped

Here's the best review I've seen but the 55A I've heard is significantly better than the 553 with the redesigned eyepiece.

The eye relief and ease of eyebox is very much improved in the new 55 series. No comparision at all
