Winchester brass problems. ~ A FRIENDLY ADVISE POSTING ~

Seen lots of WWII M98's with bolt faces that looked like that. Gas leakage around primer. I don't use (avoid) Winchester primers but do use lots of Winchester brass and my bolt faces look real good.
It probably depends on the batch of cases. I suspect Winchester get their supplies from all over the place.

It's easy enough to test the primer fit with a hand primer.

I am now using Winchester primers in PPU, Gecco, PAC, and S&B cases without any issues

Resistance or lack of can be felt when using a hand primer. Resistance is what's needed.
If resistance is what is needed, then why would you rid of all of your Winchester brass? There is plenty of Winchester brass out there that will seat primers just fine, but maybe all of yours was defective?

All my Winchester cases had oversize primer pockets.

Sort of looks like a neglected AR bolt face having many rounds fired without inspection.

Handloading requires common sense like frequent bolt face & other inspections, seating primers in tight pockets, avoiding brass that has loose primer pockets caused by excessive pressure or using brass that has had primer pockets reamed out excessively.

My suggestion is to learn how to load ammo or buy factory ammo.

The bolt face was inspected on the first day it started happening, and I ordered a replacement bolt. In the meantime I kept on shooting as I was having fun. ☺️

PS, The bolt still works, and I still have it.

Good for you. You seem to come on here, make statements or ask a question, then argue with every response you receive. Best of luck. Go troll somewhere else.
I run the old famed Winchester whitebox for my AR in Win brass, it's been fine. But yes the newer Win WSR has been reported as not be used in AR's.

A reasonable person would call Winchester, and explain the situation.

Winchester is pretty good about this - they have recalled more than a couple lots of primers over the last two decades. In most cases, they will replace the primers and even pay for the bolt or bolt-head replacement.

For some reason, I don't see it working out this way for the OP though 😜 he's special.

Many of us here and many other places have experienced gas leakage and edge burn through with various lots of Win primers, and it has been discussed on this and other forums extensively. You can use the search feature and read those, or you can take your own path. While you may or may not have oversized primer pockets, (Have you measured them?), combine that with a bad lot of primers, and well, you have your results.

Good luck to you.

I solved the problem by dumping all my Winchester cases, everything is fine now. :)
