Ive wanted to build a rifle with a HawkHill barrel for a while now and the opportunity arose to pick up a 26"(FL) #3 Contour 1-8 twist 6.5mm barrel from a gentleman on LRH so I just needed a donor rifle,

I found a cheap used Sako A7 7mm Rem Mag with 2 clips and two sets of 30mm Talleys,

So off to the Gunsmith for a massage, true&square the action, lighten the trigger to 2.5lbs, chamber and bead blast to match the action, so basically just a rebarrel job !

Mount up my fav scope a Zeiss V4 4-16x44 Z-Plex and off to range, I just shot Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELD-X ammo today and all in all it shot pretty good, the 100 yard target was the first three shot group after 2 shots to zero and a good cleaning,

I wasn't totally impressed with the group at 100 so I moved out to 300 yards and it was a little better, one thing I was surprised at the consistency of the velocity out of the Hornady ammo, I think Ill keep it !

Im sure with some handholds I should be able to do a little better,

That thing just looks sweet.

I wouldn't sweat the initial group... But time will tell, eh?

How was the feel of shooting her? Smooth? Able to track/spot your shots well?
