I'm new to this. My brother is putting a new barrel on my rifle. He is putting a 300 win. mag. with a 1 in 10 twist. I was asking around for some good loads. For now I'm planning on using a 178 grain Hornady ELD-X. Someone told me about this site and said i should check it out.

Welcome. I'm not a magnum guy so I cant answer from experience, but with a 1:10 you are going to be able stabilize much heavier bullets. I was trying the eld-x 212 and 220 through my 308 with 10 twist and it absolutely did not like them, but shouldn't be a problem for you.

Welcome!
There is a wealth of knowledge on this site. First thing to do (after introducing yourself, which you've taken care of) is to learn to use the 'search' feature.
Many questions have already been answered, so you can immediately get an answer instead of waiting for replies to a new post.
Again, welcome!

Thanks everyone. I forgot to say I'm from Montana. The main reason I was thinking about trying the eld x it that i have had very good luck with the SST. I have used it on many deer, elk and antelope and haven't had any problems. I have heard the eld x is better for long range. What is the Bullets you like better.

I have had good luck with Berger but I am in the process of switching over to the LRAB. The ELD x is a cup and core bullet and doesn't hold together. I have only shot them in 6.5 caliber, they shoot well and they kill but I still want a bullet to hold together.
