just wanted to see if anyone else has seen or has any info on the Leupold Rangefinding binos they introduced at the SCI convention.

I'm curious if they give you an MOA read out like other ballistic rangefinders. I also want to know if you can store several guns in the unit or if you can only store one like the Leica HD-Bs Everything I have read is pretty vague about how they work.

Wow, three grand is not in my shooting budget for a rangefinder/bino combo. Nikon and Vortex each have one for about $1200.00. I love the idea, but again, I can't swing that much dough on a rangefinder, but I wonder the same thing about the Nikon and Vortex.

So here's the deal:
They do give you an MOA readout when you range a target
They can store/save the information you put in to the device however you cannot enter specific ballistic data from your rifle in to the rangefinder.
It only allows you to enter generic ballistic info like magnum rifle, large rifle, small rifle which has general velocities and ballistic coefficients it uses to determine the drop along with the range.

IMO they are highly priced for a minimal amount of return. I personally need something that does more to help me achieve exact corrections for long range shots in the field. This is for the person who has some money and doesn't know a ton about ballistics but just wants a range and a number to dial to. It's not for the precision shooter. If it was it would allow you to enter your exact data like BC and velocity. They came close on this one but no cigar.

The Swarovski may have awesome glass but doesn't have hardly any features, all it does is give an angle compensated range. Leica and Zeiss both have features that allow custom ballistics to be uploaded I believe. Zeiss has the newest and arguably best tech with their newest model.

From my understanding the leupold is essentially a rebranded meopta rangefinder bino with an upgraded body and leupold lens coating/TBR-W rangefinder. If it has meopta glass it may compete with the euro names optics wise. It does fall short though with only having preloaded ballistics as mentioned above and I would agree that it would not be suited well to precision long range shooting if you want to rely on the moa/mil it outputs. However I do believe it is the only one that gives a windage output, though it is only based on a 10 mph crosswind which would require some math on the users part in basically every scenario. Being that I can get them at a solid discount through the leupold pro program I think I may give them a shot. I will use my AB app to create a drop chart like I always have but may use the windage feature for hunting purposes with the closest ballistic profile to what I am shooting. This may not be perfect but I do think it may aid in windage calls especially within my hunting ranges out to 600 yards at most. I considered going with a used pair of swaro EL ranges but I don't believe they have updated the rangefinder in some time and am concerned it may be behind the leupolds in that area as well as the others mentioned.

Do you have a break down of other fuctions it has to have its pecks and cons over Leica, and Swaro
