I'm looking into doing another long action I have a browning 7mm rem mag that I love but I want to do a 7mm in a bolt gun. I don't want to do a 28nosler stw or rum I want lots of mag room to neck out 195-197 grain bullets,
Does the LRM use a magnum bolt face or something bigger?

LRM has no other source for brass but very expensive and low-quality Gunwerks brass made by Hornady. And you can only get it from that one source.

Personally, I would build another 7mm RemMag, but with the 1:8 twist. Good Nosler brass available, and at a reasonable price. You can find ammo and brass nearly everywhere. It will perform nearly identical to the LRM.

That 7mm SS is bad to the bone. Any one running one of these?
Howdy, I see you relatively new to the forum, welcome.
At the top of the page there should be a search spot just to the right of your user name. You can use it to look up past threads, the 7mm SS is a very capable round. There are quite a few folks shooting the Sherman's on this forum.
The wife and I are doing a 6.5 SS for her and I'm doing one of the Sherman's off the -06 based case, I wanted the .280 Sherman but am leaning toward the .30 Sherman instead. It will fit better in our arsenal, and be a better cartridge when hunting in Grizzly country.

I have a 7 lrm that's being torn down and chambered in 7rm.
Brass is garbage. Not much difference in performance.
7x300wm might be one to look at if your into easy wildcats, it'll run with the stw in a little shorter package.

I have dies and brass if you go decide on the LRM. I'll make you one heck of deal on them, I'd feel bad for selling you garbage, but with full disclosure, I'd probably still sleep okay.

I know you said long action, but you can always build a short action cartridge on a long action rifle receiver.
7ss, 7wsm, 7saum could be considered.

One thing to also remember is that the "little extra" that some cartridges give you is not always useable.
I have a 26" 7rm and its "accuracy node" just happens to be 20fps slower than my 22" 7wsm's accuracy node
If you are considering 7wsm, bertram brass (and hornady I think) sell brass or you can neck down 300wsm brass with a false shoulder. The 7ss has adg brass available now. And I think nosler and norma sell brass for the 7 saum.

I really dont understand why some of the manufactures stopped selling brass....in 7wsm I can buy loaded ammo by winchester, remington, and federal...but no m/t brass from those manu's

Check availability of loaded ammo, and reloading die options too.

The most widely available and affordable option for any 7mm is going to be the 7rm though

I'm looking into doing anot

Three of my common builds are the 7RM, 300-7, and 28 Noslers. My 7RM set up for the Berger 195 EOL shoots right at 2940-2960fps. Cartridge oal is 3.650" which fits fine with .100" to spare into a standard Remington mag box. Low recoil. Very simple, easy load to put together. It uses new Norma or Nosler brass. My 300-7s and 28s shoot the 195 right at 3100fps. Proof Sendero barrels make it easy to get 1/2moa or better with these builds. 300-7 has a bore rider throat in it which according to PTG, will reduce the pressure donut, increase velocity, reduce chamber temps, and increase barrel life over the 28 with standard throat. 300-7 and the 28 run the same velocity but the 300-7 does it with 3grains less powder. 300-7 and 28 at 1000yds is 2030fps with 1805lbs of energy. 7RM is 1920fps with 1600lbs of energy.

Have you considered the 7mm Blaser Mag?

Norma makes brass. Lots of room for bullets with that case length.
