whats your go to long range 1000+ 300WM load? Dual purpose hunt and target and specific. I'm running a 338wm I re-barreled. here are the specs...
Savage FCP
26" 1-10 twist w/Brake
US Optics 3-17x50 MIL
I have a 850 yd range on family property and just recently got access to a spot to shoot as far as 1650yds. Help me reach it.

I've been using the Berger 210 VLD bullet with H1000. Many others are using the Berger 215 gr Hybrid and H1000.

I run a 215gr Berger Hybrid with Retumbo at 81.5gr in WW-SUPER brass and WLRM primers. I load 3.550" long and garner just over 3,000fps.
I can run more powder but that load produces low ES/SD in a couple of my barrels and superb 3/8MoA.

Have shot that load to a mile, it does it quite easily.

Cheers.
;)

I use ADG brass, CCI 250, 73.5 gr of Rl-26 behind 225 ELD-m and am very pleased. Just under 1/2" groups. Only getting 2800 FPS but it got me to 1500. Maybe further but I haven't tried. Could push it faster but ran out of time for finding a load before an elk hunt and backed it off to what I knew worked.

I'm using a 212gr Harnady ELD-X in Hornady cases with ~ 76gr of H1000 (my notes are not in front of me) and Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primers. Avg velocity of 2875fps. Only been able to stretch out to 830yds but it will hold 5" groups. Not sure I love the bullet for whitetail hunting, see some of my other posts.... but it is darn accurate.

That was five shots the other day checking velocity a ballistic app

Man...that's great. Thanks for the info....I'm going to give that a try. I've been using 210 gr Berger VLD's and R-22 which is very accurate load (.28 MOA) out to 834 yds. However the Berger VLD is unreliable on game. I've shot 2 hogs and a watermelon at that distance and the bullet just goes through like a field tipped arrow. Got to find another bullet with reliable terminal performance to kill hogs with.

I don't know how I feel about their "expanding" properties... I've only shot three deer with them now. Check out the post "Warning about eld-x bullets"

I love the way they shoot for me but unless I'm taking a really long poke I'd rather use my .30-30 or .270win for whitetail.

I did go back and read your posts in the "WARNING...." and I was very disappointed to read that. I was really hoping to find something that will kill a hog at the distances that I'm shooting. I beginning to wonder if there is a bullet that can do the job. As ridiculous as it sounds I've resolved myself to trying for headshots only with the Bergers for the time being. I figure a head or neck (neurological) shot put one down. So far I have not been able to get it done. Thanks for the info though.
