I guess I'm the only one who noticed that he said shot 2x at 50 yards and bedded 30 feet away. Going to get help and he should be dead in an hour.

I'm quickly losing respect for most of the people who responded to this thread .

You're sure the only one who can't see past the heat of the moment. Shot an elk, knew it needed some time, went back to call for help and posted up. Came back and elaborated after the internet hyenas started barking but it wasn't good enough.

Take your foot off the gas, you weren't there and whether it happened one way or the other, it sounds like it's over. I don't care how many animals you have killed, if it's as many as you say then you should know words will never be able to describe what actually took place.

Wow! You guys need to lay off the op. Don't you think if he could have followed up on the bull without spooking him he would have. Sounds like he did the right thing to me and if I loose your respect so be it. Chances are if the op heard the bull crash it was over right then he was just playing it safe giving the bull some time.

Congrats Ramrod. Sounds like you did what you thought needed doing. The bull was dead when you got back and likely saved you a much tougher packing job again congrats. You were able to do something I am to impatient to do and it has made my work or tracking job tougher. Things always sound different when we read or hear a story then what the situation actually is.

He was,and it sure did just a little saw work and 3 of us dragging for a couple hund yards then onto calf sled and home.Heres the old boy pulling up our north fence, and my buddy is just about to us with Truck then back to the shop.

This is why I get sick of looking at some of these forums. Give the guy a congrats and quit criticizing his ****. We are supposed to stick together and be happy for everyone instead we bitch and complain how this way would have been better. This is ridiculous. Congrats on your bull man

Great job buddy. Exactly how I would have done it and have! I was taught to NEVER go blindly running after a shot elk. Dad and Grandpa always preached that if they don't go down within sight to sit down and eat your sandwich and wait at least 30 minutes. You done good in my book.

Well tippy skippy, who are you to judge? Apparently you are only one on this forum that knows anything! Just another key board know it all.maybe this guy was excited and forgot to clearly state the events, but no you know it all. You were there right, weiserbucks. Dude get off your soap box!!

2 hits from the Sherman he went about 30 feet and bedded down he should be done by the time I get back in an hour.

This is why you're catching flack from everyone. Not well written and you made an assumption of a clean kill. I personally didn't think you left it suffering but I can see how others will jump to condem you "off the cuff".

So you mentioned graduation to the "big brother" ....
You staying with the 6.5 or?.?.?
I'm debating a 6.5 Sherman or a 28 Sherman....
