I've procrastinated on getting a custom rifle built for my upcoming hunts and now it's too late to have one built. I'm looking to spend 2k give or take and not sure what direction to go. I'm looking at the weatherby ultra lightweight and the nosler model 48 long range. Not sure if I'm wasting money on these and should look at other options or try to find something else on the classifieds. And opinions would be appreciated. Thx

I've only had Model 700s and Model 70s in 300WM, some custom most just "tweaked" with bedding/trigger,etc. My SIL used a stock Tikka T3Lite in 7mm Mag one year on a 5pt bull elk, HSM factory load with 168BERGER. I shot it too and it is accurate. I also read about and see where Christensen Arms has the Mesa and a couple others that may put you closer to what you want? Good luck to you Pard.

You definitely need to take a look at the Christensen Arms Mesa, Mesa LR, and Ridgeline. I have the Mesa and shoot consistent 4-5" groups at 1000 yards with 212 gr. ELD-X handloads. Can't ask for anything better at that price. I have also shot quite a few ridgelines and haven't had one shoot above .8 MOA yet.

Ill throw in to look at the Cooper M52 Long Range setup. I have worked with several of them and they all seem to shoot very well. It is balanced very well and is a great rifle for that price point. The Christensen rifles are very good as well. I know several people shooting the Browning lines (Hells Canyon, McMillan Long Range) and they seem to be very happy with them.

It will be very difficult to beat the Christensen Mesa or Ridgeline at their respective prices. I would say look at a Fierce Fury or Edge for a little nicer rifle for the a little more money.

Why not the Remington 700 Sendero in 300 win mag?

I bought a hells canyon McMillan last winter in 28 nosler, it's a heck of a rifle. I paid $1725. Shoots lights out with literally the first load I tried. Definitely a good option to consider. The newer models have 8 twist barrels, and the mag will feed up to 3.6"

intended use? Distance you plan to shoot? Expectation of accuracy? Handload or factory?

I just sold both senderos. I loved them but got sick of hauling a 11 pound rifle around. This new rifle will be used solely for elk and black bear and need it light. I feel comfortable 400-500yrds. I reload
