Sounds awesome!!! Not sure were the hate is with antelope but New Mexico antelope is melt in your mouth meat. I prefer that over elk sirloin hands down.
Ive now switch my rifle from 6.5-270AI to .280AI and switched from SMK to TMK 160g. I still believe in SMKs but didn't like checking and reworking Metplates. Some boxes they were nice and open and others it was almost 100% FMJ and I would have to work on it.
This was a coues deer at 260...
Maybe in a local area you can do a load development get it shooting sub MOA and verify long range for them. People pay for that. Lot of people don’t have time to load develop and verify long range drops for their LR rifle
It died in its tracks! Nothing wrong with that. No matter what bullet you have its a crap shoot on exactly what the bullet will do with the placement it hits, at the distance its at. Shoot it again at the same spot same distances it might pass through with a fist size hole exit and it will...
.280 AI— Just buy Nosler brass and load. No fire forming and wasting 200 round down the tube over the life time of the barrel. But that’s me I found out I just like to load it up and shoot it. Easy brass work to be done
Can’t give you a twist rate unless we know what cartridge you are using. If its kids gun you might want to go with a light barrel no more than 24” long. A light gun maybe shooting a 243 with a break is easy to handle. Even if you go creedmoor with 6 or 6.5
Another food for thought if you just thinking about competing to just get better at long range a creedmoor for sure. If its a thought but competing is a maybe and you want to long range hunt either the CM or PRC will do fine. More ump out of the PRC but a avid hunter (not competing) shooting...
I would like to see more info. But I always had the 6.5 accubonds LR never group well. And it seemed like it did whatever it wanted on game. I have not seen a consisted kill style. Like you hear from Bergers. (then you get those few penicls) but overall work awesome all the time. And the...
I would use a general out to 200 yards no problem. There is a video of a youth shooting elk I think at 500 yard. Took a couple shots but downed it. If I lived back east and only had 50-150 yards to shoot I wouldn’t hesitate with that round
