I went back and measured center to center. I found it to be easier to judge this way. My two best groups were vld at .40 and gameking at .42 Still good groups if you ask me. Thanks for the input. Although I was excited about the idea of a .26 group I would rather do it right.

I read somewhere that I should use locktite for rings and bases. Do any of you guys use this method? Im only shooting a 308. It makes me a little nervous locking my scope to my rifle permanantly.

Roninflag: we havent went yet. He is hung up on Hornady SST 150gr. And I recomended the Federal Premium Game King 165gr. We are going with those and probably some Win. Supreme Balistic silvertips 168gr. He is going to wait and see how I do with VLD's before buying in to the hype.

the 115 gr Berger VLD is probably your best bet. After all the inquiries ive had here for the VLD it seems well suited for that kind of shot. The barnes bullet your shooting probably wont expand well at all at that range.

Do yourself a favor and look into the Ziess Conquest with Rapid Z 600 Reticle. You can get one from Sport Optics for 575 dlrs no tax or shipping. The reticle has crosshairs for up to 650 yards and you can go online and use the Ziess ballistics calculater for your caliber and bullet. I shoot out...

Im thinking of using the 243 VLD for my son for deer hunting. His shots will be from 40 to 200 yards. Any opinions on this would be helpful. I need feedback before I sight in his rifle with this round.
