Following this thread since I have questions about these scopes too. So far I've never spent more than $300 or so on a scope but I'm starting to settle firmly in the belief that you ought to spend as much or more on the scope as you do on your gun. After all, they're both of about the same...
I just recently bought a single seven chambered in this cartridge. I am looking for suggestions on powder and bullet selections. I am in need of brass too, can't seem to find it in stock anywhere. I want to cast my own bullets for it at some point so any suggestions on good moulds and bullet...
I'm gonna be the oddball out and suggest 270 win. AI it if you want more room to play. Obviously no factory for the AI so that may be a no go. 270 win with a hammer hunter would be great out past 400, especially on deer. I would think that even elk and moose would succumb to this combo.
Thanks for all the help fellas. Couple days ago I picked up a pound of cfe223 at a local gunshop. Went to another local gunshop last evening and found a pound of varget as well as a hundred 7-08 brass. Now I'm just waiting for the hammers to arrive in the mail! I'm starting to get impatient...
I'm following this thread since this is something that I plan to do in the future. It may not be for another five or ten years but it is definitely something that I plan to do someday. Money, 🙄 gotta have it but it takes so long to get it and then it leaves so quickly. 🥵

I just ordered some 120gr hammer hunters for my brother's savage 7-08. I'm looking for the ideal powder as far as speed and temp stability are concerned. This gun will be used year round for shooting anything from varmints and tannerite to deer and possibly hogs.
