What got you interested in long range hunting?

I grew up on a tobacco farm in southern Virginia. Although we had BB guns at 5, 22’s at 6, and 22 pistol at 13; shot mice and crows out of our bedroom windows, and as soon as we got off of the school bus we grabbed the rifle and dogs and headed into the woods looking for squirrels and rabbits...

    Magnetospeed vs labradar

So I had both systems for a number of years and found myself using the Magnetospeed more frequently because it was faster for me to setup. That being the case, I just sold my LabRadar about two months ago. And as Murphy’s law would have it I now find myself shooting a lot of all copper Bullets...

    Magnetospeed vs labradar

I’ve owned both for a number of years and just recently sold my Labradar. I mainly shoot suppressed and although I had the optional mike for the Labradar, I still found it rather a pain to setup. For me it was just simpler and quicker to setup the Magnetospeed. Both appeared to give accurate...

The old 25-06 Remington and 270 Winchester shot flatter than 6.5 CM

I have to agree. I was shooting 25-06 decades before I started shooting 6.5 CM, and I was fully engaged with 6.5 CM well before it became popular. I picked up a 25-06 last year and with the loads and ranges that I shoot it just doesn’t have the trajectory that I’ve come to expect from the CM...

    6.5 Creedmor- the Holy Grail?

There are at least two trains of thought common to hunters. One, is to push the limit of the combination of cartridge, distance, and size game. Two, is to make sure that your cartridge of choice has adequate margin to support the distance and size of game you are hunting. Coming from an...

Burris New Eliminator III with X96!!!

I am not shire that I am understanding you. I don't see any difference between a s ops laser rangefinder and a hand held other than covenience. So how does that make it more difficult? I'm not arguing about your preference, I suspect anyone shoots better with what they personally are comfortable...

Burris New Eliminator III with X96!!!

To me it is all subjective anyway. I've read hundreds of threads on different scopes and people tend to be much more passionate on things they don't like, objective or subjective. Those who like a particular brand or model generally just plod along quietly enjoying their scope. Drawing the line...

Burris New Eliminator III with X96!!!

Purchased an Eliminator III and it sighted in at 100yds easily. Did the bullet drop at 600yds (didn't have a safe 750 range) and it exactly matched my Kestral Atrag calculated drop for 600yds. Shooting out to 600 the holdover in the scope worked perfectly, but I had to return the scope because...

    eliminator 3 users

Not familiar with JBM ballistics but if your software bullet drop is accurate at your established altitude, then just use it to set the Eliminator bullet drop at that altitude. When you change altitude, enter what your software gives you for the 750yd drop at that altitude in your Eliminator setup.

What is your preferred scope reticle calibration?

Milrad, better for longer range. Fewer clicks necessary.

    Kestrel 4500 Atrag?

FYI, I just saw an add for a S&B 5-25 that boasted the TReMoR2 reticle. So at least one other mfr is using it beside Bushnell.

    Kestrel 4500 Atrag?

You will be pleased I think. It's kinda funny but I primarily shoot a 6.5 CM and a .338 LM as well as use the Leica 1600. Great minds think alike I guess.

    Kestrel 4500 Atrag?

You can manually add a new gun and its data directly in the Kestrel, and that works just fine. I'm just having issues downloading new data from a separate file on my PC.

    Kestrel 4500 Atrag?

Nope, just the library that was originally on the Kestrel that I had modified. Maybe I should name the new library something different and try again?
