    Compressed loads in 300 WM

Bare with me, I know there are lots of numbers in this post, but feel its neccessary to convey what I have going on. I was approached by a friend to help work up some loads for his 300 WM, which is a Ruger M77 with a 24” barrel. He had been shooting 180gr factory ammo, but wanted to switch to a...

Prob need a minimum of 2 boxes. My brother in law is looking to develop a load for a hunt, so 50 would be pretty slim. Let me know what you want for 2 boxes and i will see if he wants them. Thanks for reaching out, really appreciate it.

    First ladder test results

I tried shooting a pressure test at 100 yds today to see how data would compare to the attempted ladder test at 330 yds last weekend. I elected to skip 1 and 2 and load an 11th and 12th charge since i didnt see pressure in 1-10. So charges are numbered in first pic, results in second pic. Is...

    First ladder test results

Great reply, and one that made me realize something i hadnt thought of. I had used the 0000 steel wool and closing the bolt on a bullet seated long method of finding where the lands were. Just kept polishing the marks off and seating it about .005" more each time until i had no more marks when...

    First ladder test results

Thanks for the reply. I now realized i left out my powder, which is H4350. I have found a load with w760 and the 140gr BTHP, which ended up being about a grain under book max and i tried charges all the way up to a grain over max for pressure test. And the final charge of 40.4 was tested at 60*...

    First ladder test results

I tried my first ladder test over the weekend. It is easy for me to see that there is a definite node, but towards the lower end. It seems like sometimes there is another node towards the upper end, or even just before pressure signs begin to show. I would like to share my results and get some...

    New rifle and some questions

So i recently purchases my first bolt gun. I wanted something that could deliver good accuracy for the money. I ended up with a Ruger American Hunter with Magpul stock chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I topped the rifle with Vortex rings and an Athlon Ares BTR Gen 2 4.5-27x50. From doing some...

    Help with some ballistics

    Doc, Are you saying subtract .354 per 1000ft from the pressure I used at home? I have been using 30.00 as kind of an average pressure here at home (800ft). So if i plan to hunt at 8000ft, the difference would be 7200ft. So .354 x 7.2 = 2.55 . . . . . . . . 30.00 - 2.55 = 27.45. Please let...

    Help with some ballistics

I think each of the program's is a little bit different I know they all have a place to put in the altitude and to put in the pressure but I'm thinking that this must be a corrected pressure something that I did not know anything about but read a little bit about it after I posted this question...

    Help with some ballistics

So my wife and I will be leaving for an elk hunt in WY in about a month. I had put a 300 WM barrel on my Encore this spring and started load development with 180gr Accubonds and H1000. I found a load that worked well in the gun, and have loaded up enough ammo for practice and the hunt...

    Noob scope adjustment question

All adjustments were made following a 3 shot group. Im saying the first shot in the next 3 shoot group was 3-4" low of the 2nd and 3rd shots in that group.
