    New 22ARC AR 15 build

You might want to look at Craddocks RTR barrels: https://craddockprecision.com/rtr/ Craddock does top-notch work. I'm about to build a 22 ARC as well, but I'm doing a lefty. I'm most likely going with an RTR, but I can't decide between the 18" and 20". Finding a left-hand Grendel / ARC bolt or...

    WTH SilencerCo?

I know a guy that shot his endcap... twice. In that case it was the threads on the rifle that were bad.

    Best deer cart?

I certainly depends on the terrain and proximity to the nearest road, but I would submit that the best deer cart is not a cart at all. Debone that thing in the field and pack only the meat and antlers out in your backpack. Yes, it will be heavy, but pulling or dragging anything, unless it's...

The Plan To Kill CA's Catalina Islands 2,000 Mule Deer

I understand this is likely a joke, but that is exactly how the antis want to handle wildlife populations. You know, because an elk or deer being mutilated to death over several hours is much more "humane" than a quick death via arrow or bullet.

    Scenars for hunting

I know it's not the exact bullet, but I had inconsistent results when using the 139 Scenar out of a 6.5 Creed as a coyote bullet. Some blew big holes, others seemed to pencil through. There's a lot of other 6.5 "hunting" bullets to choose from that are readily available. Why not try one of...

    SD Sportsman

If you're not already into prairie dogs, give that a try. Central and western SD has a lot of opportunities. It's a great way to hone your long range skills, or just vaporize them at short range.

    22-250ai or 22 creed

I think the Creed is a better option for an AR. That AI shoulder may not feed as well. It's also nice to skip fire forming. For those mentioning the standard 22-250. It's a great cartridge, but the body taper makes it not feed well after you get 5 or 6 rounds in a magazine.

Savage tenon thread LENGTH (small shank)

They use the same old small shank Savage barrels in the Impulse (the predator model anyway). The factory Savage barrel I took out of my Impulse is the same as the factory Savage barrel I took out of my model 10.

Savage tenon thread LENGTH (small shank)

I get that there are a number of ways I could work around it, but question remains "who did the wrong thing here?" I'm sure the pre-fit manufacturer would like to know if they're doing it wrong, and others would like to avoid this problem. On the other hand, if it's within the Savage spec, then...

Savage tenon thread LENGTH (small shank)

The recoil lug is .220, same as the factory lug. However, this is on a Savage Impulse, which is a different setup from your standard model 10. There's a barrel extension that the barrel threads into, and recoil lug is different. BUT... keep in mind this came as a complete factory rifle that...

Savage tenon thread LENGTH (small shank)

Here we see 5 barrels, positioned every-other. The 3 silver-colored barrels are from the same prefit manufacturer, and the black and painted barrels are factory Savage. The sharpie is just there to help point out the ends of the threads. The factory Savage are a good .050 longer. I only need...

Savage tenon thread LENGTH (small shank)

It is certainly shorter than the factory Savage barrels. That's why I'm wondering what the proper spec is. Either they didn't make the barrel to spec, or (it wouldn't surprise me) Savages own spec doesn't work for their Impulse rifles.

Savage tenon thread LENGTH (small shank)

    It's a prefit.

Savage tenon thread LENGTH (small shank)

.220. It's the same one that was on the factory barrel. Seems I could shave about .020 off the recoil lug and / or the face of the barrel nut to make it work, but I'm worried about keeping those surfaces perfectly flat.

Savage tenon thread LENGTH (small shank)

I'm having a problem headspacing a new custom barrel for a Savage Impulse. I have the barrel nut back as far as it will go (ran out of threads), and when the barrel is threaded into the receiver to where the nut hits, I still have about .020 headspace. I got to measuring the length of the...
