    Mandrel Size

I think you explained it great! As someone who doesn’t neck turn, the final operation in my case sizing routine is to run a mandrel .001 under whatever caliber I’m working with. It pushes any neck imperfections to the outside of the case wall and produced very concentric ammunition. I can see...

Berger 6.5 140 HVLD vs EH - real world, observable differences

Have shot and used both in my 6.5SAUM. 140 VLD’s are insanely lethal on game. They’ve performed for me on game from 90 to 770 yards. That’s by hunting bullet of choice in 6.5.

Which 6 & what bullet weight?

Any competent gunsmith can make it work.

Which 6 & what bullet weight?

If you’re willing to go custom I’d go 6br. Lapua brass, easy to load for and scary accurate at those ranges. Long barrel life and many bullet choices from Hornady, Berger and Sierra

    Clean cold MOI

I was raised to never head into the field Hunting with a clean bore. Having integrated that into my hunting routine, I’m confident the only cold bore problem is me.

    7mm rem mag barrel life?????

I only shoot Bartlein’s. They’ve all shot really well.

    Truck gun

My truck gun is an 18” barreled .243 pushing 95gr Berger’s. Handy and lightweight with an old scratched leupold on it. My truck gun is for incidental contact with coyotes, woodchucks, rabbits, whistle pigs, etc. The hunting rifles for deer on up start at 6.5 in my safe.

    Which model bipod for hunting?

Don’t worry about the peanut gallery - go buy one. The Atlas can be used in ways the Harris can’t. The Harris is somewhat limited outside of the prone position where the Atlas is a little more versatile.

    Bipod help

I have an Atlas and a Harris bipod. I like them both but find myself grabbing the Atlas more often because it offers so much more adjustability. It’s over your budget but if you can wait and save up a little it’ll be worth the wait.

    7SAUM Feeding

Good afternoon! I've got a 7mm Rem Mag that I'm growing tired of, thus I'm interested in the 7Saum. I love the efficiency and performance of my 6.5 Gap, so I'm taking a hard look at the 7Saum- (just bought 200 pcs of brass). I'm seeking information on feeding this cartridge from a long action...

    Wife’s long range caliber

To be honest, I’d go with a 6.5 CM with store bought ammo then reload the brass. That’ll do just fine on any deer. Low cost of entry. If you want to go fancy, I say get on the waitlist for 200 pieces of ADG 6.5 Saum brass and once you’ve got brass in hand I’d have that spun up. The recoil is...

Do barrel cooling fans work (chamber chiller)?

I have the RifleKühl. Works great. It’s a little over priced for what it is, but I don’t have the time to cobble a bunch of stuff together. It’s most useful in my thinner contours - I shoot a 4 shot group and then run the cooler. About 15 minutes later I can shoot another group with no effect on...

    Coldbore shots

The only cold bore surprises I’ve had are the first shot after I’ve cleaned the barrel. Now, I only clean the bore for carbon until after hunting season, then I’ll remove the copper. Come spring, 10-15 rounds will season the barrel right about where it likes to be.

    Muzzle break cleaning

I have that exact brake - see my earlier post. You’ll be surprised!

    Muzzle break cleaning

I completely remove the brake (advantage of having a self timing brake), get a tub with simple green and a bronze brush. Hit it with carb cleaner when done - a little anti seizing lube on the brake threads and back on she goes! Easy peasy
