Scope and hunting ammo for 460 S&W?

A few years back a friend that had a sporting goods store ask me to take a Ruger Red Hawk 454 and sight it in for a customer. It had a Simmons scope on it. One shot and done. Sounded like a tin can full of rocks when you shook it there were so many parts rattling around. Replaced it with a...

    Lapping a crown

Yep, With some cartridge firing rifles I have turned shot gun shooting pattern rifles into tack driver shooting rifles by simply using a BRASS round head bolt larger than the diameter of the bore and valve grinding compound in a variable speed drill. Put the rifle in a vice and RUN THE DRILL...

Thoughts on when the heck components will be back?

Some of the problems causing the problem. 1. Remington is no longer producing ammo so that takes millions of rounds off the shelves. 2. There are a whole lot more new gun owners now than just a few years ago so more ammo was bought by them. 3. Because people are scared, they/us, bought up more...

    Forming 7x57 from 30-06 - question

You will not get a fully chambered barrel that you can just screw on and be ready to go. The barrels are only partly chambered. You have to ream them a little at a time using head space gauges. These barrels are also sometimes really hard to remove. If you don't have the proper vice and action...

    Surplus powder

I got lucky a number of years ago and got a few 8 lbs jugs CHEAP of pulled down from M2 ball ammo that was stick powder IMR 4895. It shoots within what a normal lot number change of current production powder is.

12 Ga. Slugs Impossible to Find -Solution!

A few years ago I basically got a 1 oz. Lee Drive Key slug mold free when I ordered a bunch of stuff from a supplier. I also had picked up a Remington extended rifled choke tube at a yard sale for almost nothing. I am a bullet caster so I already had everything I needed. I had some PURE LEAD...

    Black Powder pistols?

As to the single shot muzzle loader pistols they are a hoot and they can be REALLY accurate. My first was the CVA mountain 50 cal. that I put together from a kit. With 50 grs FFFG and a .490 patched ball that thing was a POWERFULL tack driver. I picked up a Traditions Vortex 50 cal. single shot...

    Black Powder pistols?

If you could find a Ruger 44 cal BP revolver you would be in high cotton. Of your listed choices I would go stainless steel. I had a Remington 1858 blued pistol about 25 years ago that I shot a good bit. Can't remember who made it. Was made in Spain I think. Found that you REALLY need to clean...

    25 WSSM thoughts......

When the 25 WSSM came out my buddy got one. He has to have everything new that comes down the road and has the money to get it. Testing it over the chronograph against a couple 25-06s shooting same bullet weights the 25 WSSM was just a little faster than one of the 25-06's and just a little...

Load data for Speer 140 gr Gold Dot

In my experience the Gold Dots are GREAT BONDED bullets. I use the 120 gr in my 6.5 Grendel. Be careful and DO NOT substitute a bonded bullet in place of a standard cup and core bullet or you will run into pressure quickly. It is kind of like substituting a mono bullet using cup and core data...

Hornady 124 xtp 9 mm Reload Help

The 7th edition Hornady manual is VERY CONSERVITIVE in their data with all their calibers data according to my 40+ years of hand loading. You can't get enough Unique in a case and seat the bullet properly to be too hot in my experience.

I need help picking out a muzzleloader

That "open style ignition" requirement. What exactly does that mean according to the regulations of the state you will be hunting in? To me that would mean the old exposed side lock etc. hammer and nipple cap lock. I have an old in line Knight T-Bolt Mag 50 Cal. that originally was set up to...

I need help picking out a muzzleloader

Some states have weird regulations. I think PA even requires you to use only flintlock rifles. Other states like LA allow you to use straight wall cartridge single shot rifles during their primitive weapons season.
