No I did not, for the bolt action I bought the round stock that was already heat treated to save time and money on having it done. It is all 4140 pre-hardened steel. The trigger and sear were made from A-514 pre-hard. All of the metal for the 45-70 was pre-hardened as well.
They are all DeHaas designs that I have modified heavily. Here is one more of a different design. The first picture is 2 12" pieces of 4140 pre-hard round stock 1" round and the other 1 1/2" round. The barrel was a 1 1/2" x 28" cylinder blank and I contoured it to a straight taper from 1 1/16”...
Thank you all, you are making my head swell. I have just made them for me and haven't shared them much except with family. Here are a couple more that I have built, the dark stock is my 224 Valkyrie I made for long range target shooting and the blond stock is a 17 Hornet. They are of the...

Ok for all that wanted some more information on the 45-70 that I built here you go. I started with the reading of an article about the 45-70 Sandy Hook Trials in 2015 and was amazed what they had achieved, so I decided to look in to building a rifle that would be designed on the same parameters...
I had posted some pictures of the rifle in the gunsmithing forum on a previous thread called single shot rifles a couple of years ago. When I get a chance I will start a new thread for it.
Wow! man I could go on for a while on that, we should probably start a thread some where else to discuss that topic, and I would be glad to share if any one is interested just let me know and where to post it. Thanks
Yes, I am a pretty good shot but I have to admit I did practice every weekend for 2 months shooting at 100 to 300 yards with cold barrel shots just to make sure my load and I were repeatable LOL.
