Check hillcountryrifles.com. They have a high end .22lr, that when shot with subsonic ammo mimics trajectory of .308 out to 300 yards. You can get the rifle or the entire system. Great for practice.

Pretty far back, but the Idaho mountains have tremendous roads, so you are able to get most spots via vehicle.

I am waiting for my Griff pup early next month. I had multiple people tell me to read Chuck Johnson's Training the Versatile Hunting Dog. Seems like nothing else I have ever seen. It makes a lot of sense, but I haven't been able to use it on the pup yet. I will keep you advised.
