Since you wont be reloading, that really reinforces my advice, get a 7 Rem Mag or 300 Win Mag, lots of good hunting ammo available everywhere.

7Rem Mag, 300 Win Mag are both goo choices, the creed is a bit light IMO. Ive lived and hunted in elk country for over 40 years, that doesn’t make me an expert, but if you are really wanting to hunt elk then gear up for it.

There’s an outfit in FL that sells a die, IIRC its called a bump die to remove that ring, others have had that problem. A different brand of die may solve the problem as well.

The 270 Wby is one flat shooter that receives little attention. For some reason, current fad overlooks 277 caliber in all phases, i use the 135 SMK for long range gong shooting. ( 1/2 mile. Is the limit of the range that is near me). I sometimes use bowing pins at that range

Having been first a 270 fan, later (40 years ago) became a 7mm Rem Mag fan, and more recently finally trying out the 280AI. That is one fine cartridge, gotta recommend it. Now that some factory ammo is available and factory rifles chambered for that cartridge, so much the better...
