    Best Value 223/556 Barrel?

They are the real deal. I have 2 on squared uppers. Both shoot really well with factory loads. About 3/4" average. 1/2 that with good handloads. Another real sleeper for a hunting gun is AR Performance. They make the 6 8 into a whole nuther cat. Put a good brake on one of their 18" barrel and it...

    What would you do?

Now, having said all I have, please consider one more thing. The big guns we have been telling you need(and you do) to pull off a 1000 yd bull are incredibly intimidating to shoot in a hunting weight rifle. Recoil and blast will teach you to flinch in a hurry. You have to work up to them and...

    What would you do?

Here is another reason for very big guns at long range in the mountains that those who haven't been there done that don't realize. I shot a big ram one time across a canyon. He was on the mountain on the other side. Took the shot at about 9am. He went down and slid maybe 50 yds and piled up on a...

    What would you do?

For a whole bunch of reasons, I would not choose less than 30cal or a case that would hold 100grs. Bullets need to be heavy for cal with high bc and not bonded. 1000 is a long poke. There is a huge difference between 6-700 and 1000-1100 shooting big game. There is no such thing as too much gun...

    What would you do?

Almost everyone here is giving you good advise. Here is mine. First, buy enough brass and and now unfortunately primers to last the life of the barrel. If you cannot get these, choose something else. Then work up your load with powder and bullets that are available. Then quickly buy enough of...

    Help me pick a pistol…….again!

If you get a 1911, I would get a 6". More velocity, sight radius, and just run better with the lower slide velocity. I still would shoot a .41 or .44 mag revolver if hunting deer as a primary weapon and not a backup.

Is 325wsm too much gun for Northern Whitetails & Black Bear

Depends on how it's stocked and how it fits you

    Help me pick a pistol…….again!

Whatever you get, get a 6". Get adj sights or a way to mount a dot. Just like rifles the more accurate the better. But, while I have both, if actually hunting with it and not backup, I'll choose my 44 every time.

    Franklin X10 Press

Midsouth has them on sale for a grand with a free bullet feeder. That's a good price for a 10 station press with a case feeder and a bullet feeder. Anyone have one? Would love to hear from someone who has or has run a Dillon, and has one of these that can compare. I have a Dillon now for high...

    Neck tension

I use mandrels and turned necks. some use bushings. In load development it is after bullet jump for me. Don't know about others.

    my latest varmint (coyote/fox)calling accessory

Those are really nice. I have a friend that bowhunts off one. Almost as quiet as an E bike if you just ease around. I hunted with him when I could still hear and you could see him coming through the woods before you could hear him. I was impressed. Never asked if the muffler was stock or not.

    Neck tension

IME HBN has a greater effect on ES/SD than neck tension. Not saying neck tension isn't important, just that HBN seems to cover up some of the inconsistencies. I have shot strings where I thought the chrono was broke. Also, cold bore lands in the group with most of my rifles.
