It turns out the oryx hunt I saw on the backdoor was a February badged hunt, in what is probably the last year they do badged hunts, so I'm going to make this one count.

I was just referring to last week's back door that closed after being up for a day or so. The one referred to in the first post of this thread. It didn't show me any elk love (but some for oryx and deer, fingers crossed).
This was working for me earlier (I drew 2 of my 5 hunts) but now it is blank, so your mileage will vary. I don't know if that is because it only works for a little bit, the one time you visit, or if they just plain fixed it and now you can't tell.
I've been doing squats but it sounds like I should be loading up the backpack instead! In my case my hunt is not backpacking but I'm hoping to help a buddy haul out some elk meat on his hunt in rough country.
Welcome to the forum. You'll find most guys here hunt rifle so I hope you get some feedback but I wouldn't expect a bunch of good archery tactics.

FYI NM hunters, because of the Terk ruling (affected ibex, oryx, and b. sheep quotas) NM G&F is delaying ALL big game draw results by a week until the 30th.
Red Sparky is right on. I'm a NM guy but just getting into hunting and everyone who has helped me has said the same thing. I helped a buddy on a cow hunt in 16D and plan to keep putting in for 17 since I live there (but it is only bow or muzzleloader.)
