Have been reloading and active in wildcat shooting since the age of 14-15 years old. I have been an outfitter in the Idaho Selway Bitterroot wilderness, and now living back in Texas. Have lived in Id, Az, Colo., and Montana. I started shooting, or toying with long range shooting about mid to late 70'. I had a 30-378 Wea built in 79' on a Ruger #3 with a 30" Douglas barrel. I also had a 7-300 Wea built on a long Rem. 722 way back. Now I shoot several different long range rifles, some I built for my wife and daughters and we all have a GREAT time with the racing goats!!
My last wildcat is similar to many, but is a 338 on an Ackley Imp 416 Rigby. Built on a Geske action and Bruce Baer built the base and sold me the Nightforce on top. Dan Lilja built me a 34" barrel and Skip Otto fluted it. It can shoot hard and long, and has accounted for 7 elk and over 40 goats. Several deer also have fallen to it. Longest one round kill shot was 1285 yards and withnessed by 2 other hunters. A shot at 1685 meters as measured by Wild rangefinder left a ear ring hole in a goats ear.
